2018 Western Region Administrative Officers Meeting 
August 15-17, 2018 
The University of Alaska Fairbanks is pleased to host the 2018 Western Region Administrative Officers Meeting in fabulous Fairbanks, Alaska. For those who are extending their stay in Fairbanks, we are planning a couple of pre- and post-conference optional events. The conference this year will run Wednesday through Friday.
Conference topics will include (but not limited to):

  • Capacity Grant 101 
  • Tools to Support Faculty 
  • Track Expenditures and Effort Certification

  • Inclusion and Diversity 
  • Shared Services – Best Practices

REGISTRATION COST IS $325.00, EARLY BIRD  REGISTRATION IS $275.00. EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION OPEN THROUGH JULY 13, 2018

The conference schedule is listed below:

WEDNESDAY
Starting at 11:00 a.m. - Van transportation will be provided to our local farmers market. Enjoy walking around and looking at our local homegrown produce, products and crafts while grabbing lunch from one of the many food vendors. More details to come on this trip. Wednesday afternoon — Registration and check in at Wedgewood Resort.
Wednesday evening — “Dinner on the Wild Side.” Begin your evening with a tour of our reindeer farm as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the Robert G. White Large Animal Research Station (LARS).  Enjoy seeing our muskoxen, reindeer and cattle. This tour will include a box dinner. THURSDAY 
Thursday will kick off the start of our two-day conference. Breakfast will be provided.
Thursday evening — Dinner will be hosted on the Sternwheeler Tanana Chief. Enjoy a scenic tour on the Chena River and a fabulous meal as we cruise in style on the sternwheeler riverboat. Guests are welcome to join the adventure. The conference registration will cover this cost; guest price will be $30 per person. Transportation services will be available starting at 5:00 p.m. to take everyone to the riverboat. FRIDAY
Friday will also include breakfast.
Friday evening — A salmon bake dinner will be available at Pioneer Park. Pioneer Park offers a walk through Alaskan history by showcasing different shops, restaurants and historical buildings from all corners of Alaska. The Alaska Salmon Bake provides a fabulous outdoor dining experience with delicious Alaska food. Following dinner, don't miss the famed "Golden Heart Review" at the Palace Theatre, just a short stroll through the park. The show is a hilarious musical comedy on the historical highlights of Fairbanks, also known as "The Golden Heart City," and answers a few commonly asked questions about our town … such as, "Why would anyone want to live here?" SATURDAY
For those who may be staying an extended period in Fairbanks, you are welcome to join us on our “Explore Fairbanks Tour.” Your private tour will include a trip to the trans-Alaska pipeline, a dog mushing kennel and will end at Chena Hot Springs Resort with a visit to the Aurora Ice Museum.  It is common to see moose on the road out to the hot springs, so make sure you have your camera’s ready. This trip will have a small fee and a quick stop at a grocery store so you can purchase food for the day. Cancellation Policy: 100% refund if cancellation notice is received by August 1st. 50% refund if cancellation notice is received by August 8th. No refunds after August 8th.
